Training contracts

Your full-time training begins

Start as a trainee; qualify as an associate. This is the biggest step in your graduate legal career; a fully-paid law qualification, then two years of training, split into four blocks of six month seats. Two will be in our core areas – banking and corporate – but the rest is up for grabs. You might even work abroad or in a client office for six months. Your progress is up to you.

I want to get as broad an experience as possible in my training contract. It gives you a good basis to decide what to do next.” TAYO – SECOND SEAT TRAINEE

Before you start

Before you begin your contract, we’ll pay for you to take on the legal training courses required to become a future solicitor. The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) are currently reviewing that course for all trainees in England and Wales, but it’s likely to be the new Solicitors’ Qualifying Examination. Whilst some timings and course elements are still in discussion, we’ll support you throughout – paying all tuition fees and providing a maintenance grant.

Going on secondment

Wherever possible, we encourage trainees to do at least one seat on secondment; six months spent either overseas with our firm or in a client office.
