Your full-time training begins
Start as a trainee; qualify as an associate. This is the biggest step in your graduate legal career; a fully-paid law qualification, then two years of training, split into four blocks of six month seats. Two will be in our core areas – banking and corporate – but the rest is up for grabs. You might even work abroad or in a client office for six months. Your progress is up to you.
Salary and benefits
Before you start
Before you begin your contract, we’ll pay for you to take on the legal training courses required to become a future solicitor. The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) are currently reviewing that course for all trainees in England and Wales, but it’s likely to be the new Solicitors’ Qualifying Examination. Whilst some timings and course elements are still in discussion, we’ll support you throughout – paying all tuition fees and providing a maintenance grant.

The work you’ll do
You know the structure, but what will you actually do each day? Discover what you’ll work on, from everyday documents to exceptional deals, to pro bono and CSR.
Hear it first-hand: our trainees’ stories
Tayo, on her second seat in asset finance, discusses her non-law background, her work in cyber security advice, and the support she’s found so far.
Second seat trainee Joshua, currently based in dispute resolution, tells us how he got a Helsinki law competition to a training contract at the firm.
Now a fourth-seat trainee, Ania talks backpacking in Asia, project financing in Jamaica, and why she joined the firm’s charity committee.
In his second seat in trade finance and Islamic finance, Ilian talked to us about choosing law, finding the right route, and joining the firm’s remarkably relaxed softball team.
Going on secondment
Wherever possible, we encourage trainees to do at least one seat on secondment; six months spent either overseas with our firm or in a client office. It's a leap into the unknown – with flights, accommodation, and language lessons paid by us. Click on the locations below to see how our trainees found it:
