Law school

If you are offered a training contract with us, your journey will start with the seven-month Accelerated Legal Practice Course (LPC) at BPP University London. Here, you will be prepared for the challenges of practice at Norton Rose Fulbright. Even though you will not have started your training contract yet, the trainee development team will be there to support and advise you throughout the course.

Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL)

This year-long course is the first step for non-law graduates. It will provide you with the core legal knowledge to help you thrive on the LPC and beyond. We will pay your course fees, and provide a maintenance grant of up to £8000.

Law School

This is where law graduates join non-law graduates on the journey. By studying the LPC, you will gain the skills and knowledge you need to start the training contract with confidence – and we will be there with personal support every step of the way. Here is what to expect:

Pre-LPC day

A week before the LPC begins, you will come to our London office for a training and development day. There will be a series of interactive sessions covering personal branding and professional etiquette, executive skills, commercial awareness, presentation skills and our industry sectors. The pre-LPC day will also be an opportunity to gain more insight into our firm and to meet your fellow trainees.

The LPC is an intensive seven-month course designed to prepare you for the demands of life as a solicitor. The course is more professionally focused than you will be used to from university, and will require you to work from 9am to 6pm, every weekday.

Through lectures, group tutorials, exams and assessments, you will build a solid foundation for when you start the training contract. The course also gives you an opportunity to network with fellow trainees from Norton Rose Fulbright and other law firms, which will prove useful throughout your training contract and the rest of your legal career. We will pay your course fees for the LPC and provide a maintenance grant of £7000.

Keep in touch day

As well as keeping in touch in a variety of ways throughout your studies, we’ll also run this one-day event halfway through the LPC to find out how you are getting on and if there is anything we can do to help. You will meet partners and associates at a practice area fair that’s designed to help you with your seat choices and teach you more about the work that lies ahead.

After you gain your Legal Practice Course diploma, you’ll begin your training contract. Find out more in our next section, your contract.
